MARRYING MUM AND DAD SERIES 3

Yes, believe it or not, more parents were willing to have their wedding organised by their kids. It's a huge responsibility for our young wedding planners to sort out the theme; outfits; venue; transport; entertainment and cake, but they do it with impressive commitment and come up with the most ingenious and cheeky ideas. In series 3 we managed to pull off our first wedding abroad which was no mean feat. Hats off to all the brave brides and grooms who have taken part.

Naomi's Nightmares of Nature

NAOMI'S NIGHTMARES OF NATURE

My summer of 2012 has been epic. I had the privilege of filming a new series for CBBC called 'Naomi's Nightmares of Nature'. As the title implies, I have now encountered many unusual, fascinating, sometimes gross and often pretty darn frightening animals. I travelled to America, South Africa and Australia to make 10 episodes and as a result I have had some of the most incredible experiences of my life. I did my first ever skydive; tagged condors; held venomous snakes and enormous spiders; came nose to nose underwater with a 4.8m saltwater crocodile, the crazy list goes on. Having had a phobia of sharks all of my life, I'd say my biggest challenge was snorkelling with about 30 black tips… I don't mind admitting I gave myself a massive pat on the back after that experience! Catch it on Wednesdays at 5.15pm on the CBBC channel.

Bringing books to life

BRINGING BOOKS TO LIFE

It was a real pleasure to be involved with the 'Bringing Books to Life' project for BBC Two. I was invited to talk about one of my favourite children's books, so I chose 'The Magic Faraway Tree' by Enid Blyton. Throughout this show the real and animated worlds collide as I read extracts and talk about how I discovered this story and what it means to me. I was over the moon with the end result and I hope this series will inspire lots of 7-10 year olds to read this and many of the other brilliant books that are featured.

Me and Steve feeding the Ringtail Lemurs

DEADLY MISSION MADAGASCAR

I had a great time interviewing loads of hopefuls for 'Deadly Mission Madagascar'. Regional auditions were held to try and find the perfect candidates to take part in this show which would see 8 kids flying out on a conservation mission for a month to Madagascar. I can't wait to see how they got on.

All over the place with Ed Petrie

Me and my tap shoes

HEDGEHOGS, PANDAS AND SHARKS

I have been thoroughly enjoying making some wildlife films for Blue Peter. I really feel like I'm slowly conquering my shark fear after successfully helping to transfer 3 black tipped reef sharks in to the main shark tank at London Aquarium. And my trip up to Edinburgh Zoo to meet their gorgeous new additions, Tian Tian and Yan Guang the Giant Pandas, was really special. I felt hugely privileged to feed this beautiful creature a panda cake.

Me and my tap shoes

A DEPRESSINGLY LONG TIME AGO

I took part in a CBBC series called '12 Again', in which a whole variety of people are asked to look back in to their past and try to remember what life was like aged 12. It was quite embarrassing recalling what sort of clothes I was wearing, the music I was listening to and generally how uncool I was!

All Over the Place: Asia Part II

ALL OVER THE PLACE: ASIA PART II

For series 7 of AOTP I was invited to join Ed to go exploring around Bali. There were many highlights on this trip, but the best was surely getting the chance to swim with Manta Rays. The show is so bonkers that, for one song, I found myself dressed up as Ed Sheeran, wrestling in the mud with Ed and having a duck placed on my head…. definitely one of my life’s more surreal moments!

Totally bonkers and I love it.

Nightmares of Nature, Series 3

NAOMI'S NIGHTMARES OF NATURE, SERIES 3

Swimming with a whale shark in Mexico; being covered in a swarm of bees on top of a New York skyscraper; having a one-month old orang-utan cling to my leg in Borneo; introducing an elephant to a group of blind children in Thailand and sleeping in a Quinz in Finland, just a few of the many highlights that will stay with me forever from the filming of Nightmares series 3.

NNN Series 2

NAOMI'S NIGHTMARES OF NATURE, SERIES 2

Once again my nerves were tested to their absolute limits as I faced up to another series of nature's nightmares. The animals and challenges came in all shapes and sizes from the very large - feeding a hippo in Africa - to the microscopic - discovering eyelash mites that live on your face! - to the downright scary - a night time spider walk in the jungles of Costa Rica.

All over the place: Europe

ALL OVER THE PLACE: EUROPE

As if Ed Petrie needed to spend any more time with me, I joined him for another AOTP stint, this time he is making his way around Europe with his CBBC buddies. I joined him for the Croatia and Italy leg of his journey and this time the antics included fighting as gladiators, singing a song about storks (dressed as storks of course) and trying our hand as gondoliers.... safe to say we were pretty rubbish at it!

All over the place: Australia

ALL OVER THE PLACE: AUSTRALIA

It's not every day you can say that you sang on the stage of Sydney Opera House, dressed up as Beyonce to sing about a Big Banana or entered a race in a toilet cubicle in the middle of the Outback, but these were just a couple of the many madcap items we filmed for AOTP Oz. I thoroughly enjoyed my 5 weeks with the team travelling across the country stopping at Cairns, Adelaide and numerous places between.

Ultimate Brain

All Over the Place USA

ALL OVER THE PLACE USA

I had a blast joining Ed to film a part of 'All Over The Place USA'. We visited Florida, Wisconsin and Minnesota and found ourselves taking part in yet more strange events, like mash potato wrestling dressed as a spud; visiting weird and wacky places, like the Upside Down White House in Wisconsin; and dressing up to sing pastiches of well known songs. This series will air on CBBC in early 2013.

Me with Stefan Gates on Incredible Edibles

INCREDIBLE EDIBLES

Stefan Gates and the team invited me along to be a guest in the new series of 'Incredible Edibles'. I happily accepted the offer before properly considering what that would entail… I was presented with 3 platters of food to taste without being told what I was eating until I was chewing it. Safe to say, I ate a few things I hope never to eat again!

Me with CBBC's in-house mutt, Hacker T Dog

HACKER TIME

CBBC's in-house mutt, Hacker T Dog, kidnapped me and brought me to his studio for an episode of 'Hacker Time'. I was exceptionally pleased to discover that Hacker had devised a brand new gameshow, especially for me to play, called 'Have I Got Poos For You'! I am busy plotting my revenge.

Marrying Mum and Dad

WEDDINGS… BUT NOT AS WE KNOW THEM!

In the series 'Marrying Mum and Dad', Ed Petrie and I helped some very 'creative' kids organise their parents' weddings! They were in charge of choosing the theme, the venue, the entertainment, the food, the transport and, perhaps most, alarmingly the outfits. It made for an exciting, hilarious and emotional journey and it looks like we're set to do it all over again with a second series now in production.

Team Jaomi

TEAM JAOMI!

As anticipated, I had a crazy time up in Edinburgh when I joined John, Edward and Chris Rankin for Jedward's Big Adventure. I was teamed up with John (naturally forming Team 'Jaomi'!) to act as tour guides for a group of bemused Brownies. We endeavoured to enlighten them on the history of Edinburgh Castle, the origins of tartan and the morbid act of grave-digging. Safe to say, we weren't very good!

Steve washes elephant and me

Cliff edge sleepover

CLIFF EDGE SLEEP OVER

Here I am, once again mimicking animal behaviour, this time I spent the whole night on a cliff edge just like a gannet. Not something I ever imagined myself doing. Surprisingly, it was a spectacularly wonderful experience that I would repeat in a heartbeat.

CBBC SUMMER SPORTS STARS

Luckily I was on Helen Skelton's winning team for Blue Peter's CBBC Summer Sports Stars competition - I say lucky, it was of course all down to our natural athletic skill and ability!! This shot was taken during the Wakeboarding event which was seriously good fun. I'd love to give that sport another go in the future.
